zwek’s spaces have the ability to hide an event, which deprives itself from attention but at the same time in the moment of reception gains completion.
zwek’s practice of blurring the line between art and everyday life leads the visitor’s varied reception for the art only to partly kick in. Therefore, a new mode of attention emerges which is characterized by the exceptional state of different spheres of perception.
The crossing of these spheres by the hand of the observer sets a sense of becoming aware that highlights the way that we perceive different things. This way is mostly dictated by discourse and convention into which we are induced by objects’ formal and material language.
zwek (Gustav Kleinschmidt) is an environment artist who lives and works in Berlin.
Kunst im Wohnzimmer is as series of solo-exhibitions in Berlin, set in private living room environments with artists talks and open theoretical discussions.
